Both our families have deep roots in Pennsylvania, with heritage tracing back to the days of William Penn. Cherished memories—from Philadelphia nights to Central Pennsylvania summers and Lehigh Valley holidays—make us feel at home in the Keystone State.
Though residents of New Jersey now, crossing the Delaware River into New Hope, Pennsylvania to celebrate our wedding feels so right. Nestled along the river's banks, New Hope boasts a history as vibrant as its present-day artistic community.
We'll marry at the historic Hotel Du Village, a former private residence and girls' school with over 100 years of history. Its grounds showcase quintessential Pennsylvania scenery: cornfields, a brook, and sycamore-shaded lawns.
Built circa 1900, this country mansion was erected as a private residence, displaying elegant lines and harmoniously integrating into the surrounding landscape, tactfully named White Oaks.
Architect Morgan Colt designed the property, having studied architecture at Columbia University and further refining his artistic skills under the guidance of Pennsylvania Impressionist painter William Langson Lathrop. We'll enjoy dinner and dancing after our wedding in the Colt Ballroom.
In 1917 the estate was transformed into The Holmquist School for Girls, a private boarding and day school. The institution was founded by Miss Karline Holmquist who envisioned a school where each student would be encouraged to discover her own unique talents and capabilities.
Steeped in rich Pennsylvania history, the Hotel Du Village stands as a magnificent testament to extraordinary American craftsmanship, the enduring spirit of female empowerment, and the amazing things that can happen in Pennsylvania.
